Our Fullerton Union High School classmate and dear friend of mine, David “Dave” James Tway, passed away on the 7th of May 1974 in Los Angeles County, California. Dave was living in Yorba Linda while attending FUHS. Dave had enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on the 6th of August of 1965, soon after graduating from FUHS. Dave served as a U.S. Air Force meteorologist or military weather technician. He was released from Air Force active duty on the 9th of April 1969.  After Dave’s military service he became an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and worked at the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center located in Palmdale, California.  Dave married Melva B. Slater on the 1st of August 1970. Friends of Dave say that he died as a result of Hodgkin’s disease.

Dave was a most wonderful friend to every one he knew. I remember him as a loyal friend, having a wonderful sense of humor and always cheerful. He died much too early but he will continue to live in my fondest of memories.

I obtained this information from both public records and friends close to Dave.
